Replacement of hubs on V8s

As they have been questions asked about allowing the changing of hubs on V8s please just answer yes or no.

Basically the Scaley hub can only be replaced by another Scaley hub if its to be size for size.
The major limiting factor in the size wheel that can be used is the spur gear. As this cant be replaced you are stuck with that as the limiting factor.

Adding stlightly smaller wheels is a way of minimising any body mods that may or may not be done when lowering the car.

We agree that cars can be lowered so long as the bottom edge of the body is left as standard ( ie you cant shave the bottom edge off to get the car REALY low.

NO axle location changes to the chassis

Replacement hubs to NOT alter the track width (ie WIDER)

Replacement hubs to be plastic ONLY

Steve,

Your specifically saying it cant wider or do you mean narrower as well? Im spcefically thinking of the VE commodores with thier wheel track outside the arches from the factory. To lower them you need to narrow the track width to achieve anything.

Cheers

I voted yes and have read/interpreted the ruling to allow me to keep the scaley rims and fit a closer to the 1:1 scale insert so long as the finished set up does not allow the track of the car to be wider than that as released by the manufacturer.

Yes/No? - Please advise

If I do the insert mod to a VE and include shortening the track on the front axle to aid in lowering the car then I am also within this same ruling.

Yes/No? - Please advise

Thanks,

Shane

I haven't voted yet as I'm a tad unsure. Yes it would make them look a lot better/real. And I would like to lower a VE, but then if this only benefits the VE, we will all have the same caryawn

The way Southern Models release their V8's (holden) we may only ever get 2 - if Tander ever gets done????confused

Tander's car is a model from last year's models and the 2 "new" holden's that haven't even been revealed yet, (I dare say) won't be seen this yearfurious

If it's voted in we need something like a "nominated" wheel as a replacement. A Make and part number so we all know what fits and don't have to go on a never ending search confuse.gif

OK here is a spanner in the works for everyone, The rules state that for the front STANDARD tyres to be used and for the rear STANRARD or MJK which I will presume to be the MJK's for V8's only to keep things fair. If this is the case then only the standard rims can be used as these tyres do not fit on other rims.

ALSO if "Replacement hubs to NOT alter the track width (ie WIDER)" this should also mean narrower.

So this poll is irrelevant unless you all plan to run illegal cars next year.

AAAAAARGH!
Tell you what - why dont we each make up our own rules, that way we can all change our own rules again plus every one elses cars will be illegal and we can all spend hours and hours looking for loop holes etc in everybody elses rules.  Who need racing when we are having so much fun sorting out things

OK I missed the word 'make' out.  I cant imagine anybody wanting to make the rear track narrower unless they want to come last - Rob asked the question very early on - I answered very early on. As for the fronts - Whoopdy do who cares if they are trimmed to fit under the bodywork.

Bugger it - lets stick with this years rules and classes cos everyone is making hard work of this - its starting to get a Proxy feel about it

It must be April Fools daycry
