If we use the bodies from Phil in Tassie the info that comes with them suggests that to get the front wheels into the right place the front axle holders need to be cut out and reglued on the other side to move the axle forward on the Mustang or Camaro chassis. Do we need to make this an allowable mod or so long as the guide to rear wheel dimention of the chassis doesn't change it doesn't matter
The committee has decided not to allow modified chassis to race along side RTR cars for the 2009 V32 Season.
By modified I mean altering the fundamental design of the item i.e. length, position or height of axles from original design intent, motor position etc.
Now this reply will probably piss a few off but what the heck this going round and round and round and round and round and round in circles looking for excemptions/additions/alterations and loop holes is very tiresome.
I saw the introduction of allowing resin/plastic bodies into so called Muscle car class (a dull class at the best of times - no one has yet explained what is meant by muscle car other than it is American which is a crap explaination cos so is a Hummer).
I saw it as a simple body swap ONLY. So if a body fitted - swap it - if it doesnt than tuff - look for another body. It was a small step, a very small step towards introducing some form of building a car. Then of course some will whinge and say 'the bodies lighter, or 'the bodies lower' or 'the bodies wider' or 'what about parity' etc etc etc - looking for reasons as to why they might loose rather than looking at ways they might win.
It all gets too hard trying to introduce something REALLY simple like dropping another body on an existing chassis.
We cant all get what we all want. I have had PLENTY of wants not allowed like dropping V8s cos they are crap, keeping an openwheeler class, allowing any early sedan to run, the list goes on but what the hey its not about me alone, or you alone nor is it all about the 'Melbourne boys' or 'Ballarat boys' or whatever.
Its not even all about 'the championship'. its about racing and having fun with like minded guys, or so I thought - maybe I'm the one who is in the wrong.
You keep settling on ideas and then going away and thinking about what youve agreed to and coming up with 'what if's'.
In its current form - there is no doubt it is a one car class no matter what ANYBODY says so there is no parity unless EVERYONE uses the Scalextric Camaro.
If you want things to be equal amongst ALL cars in the class, any class, then you allow ALL the same mods to be done to ALL cars in that class. So if you want to move an axle to allow one body to fit - the same mods MUST be allowed for other cars in the class. If you are worried about resin bodies sitting lower on the chassis then allow ALL cars to have there bodies sitting lower on the chassis.
If you want the class to become a 'stockcar class' then allow any mods to any chassis from any car within the class so long as ALL running gear from within the class.
If you all want to keep looking for negatives then why change anything in any class what-so-ever
The rules are designed to say WHAT YOU CAN DO yet they keep getting tinkered with by adding ''just in case" caviets as some look at what might be percieved advantages that they dont want to do to they cars.
NONE of you have shown thought to the group AS A WHOLE and keep pushing personal 'wants' without thinking of the WHOLE GROUP. You keep looking at things to stop others going faster.
Likewise and on a very diffrent note I have asked if ANYBODY has concerns about ANY tracks and to date only two have written with concerns about one track so I shall therefore assume the other 11 or so DONT have a problem with the track. Or is this going to be another case where you will want to revisit it again after more thinking time.
We run polls, the majority vote for one thing, then as if by magic a week or so later the majority dont agree with the poll results. I have no doubt what so ever that 'problems' will arise in the LMP class when some arrive with cars that a seen to be giving the driver an advantage.
Jesus what is so bloody hard about 13 blokes agreeing a set of regs and then playing with toy cars for Christ's sake.
So I will set a poll up to to ask if you want ALL mods allowed across the Muscle car class and when its answered the subject matter will be closed.
Being fair and generous to allow us to add our $20 worth (by the time we start next year) doesn't seem to be working out for the best? Too many conflicting thoughts for the committee to have to deal with...
Maybe the committee should say these are the rules as agreed by us (with consideration for the greatest good for the greatest number) and don't put up polls and don't ask questions (treat us as the morons we might be... speaking for myself here fellas ) and the ones who want to show up and race, can and will. I'm sure you'll see us all roll up anyway Steve, whatever is deemed by the committee to be the rules.
We, the members, have entrusted the committee to do just that anyway, I thought....
Anyone whinges, there's the door.... just as in the past.
I only brought this up as I am sure I am not the only one who has bought some of these fantastic bodies from Phil. What would have happened if the cars were built to Phil's instructions to race next year.

End of rant.

There in lies the rub
We make a decision we get asked why we dont make a decision we get asked why We ask for feedback it gets decided upon then it gets questioned We question a decision and we get asked why again
In an effort to be fair we (the committee) ask each other for feedback and viewpoints. When I ask I try not to give my point of view first cos I want Rob and Grefs point of view untainted by what I think.
Its not WW3 its more like an amusement park ride although I dont find it very amusing - actually its quite a waste of time and am quite happy to step right back till next year so long as some one tells me the 2009 dates and just get told when we are racing, what we are racing and where we are racing.
I'm not angry with anyone or anything just VERY FRUSTRATED at the total lack of forward movement which i find very puzzling for a group that gets on so well when racing
Perhaps we should just hold a compulsory social get together and bring the cars suggested for next year. Run 'em under a quick race scenario and agree/disagree to include them with whatever mods. I'm sure it beats talking about it (going round and round and round on a track makes more sense!!!!!)
Maybe this could be at Gref's next round... seems to be a full house attending so far.
Don't flame me... I'm just trying to help. If I'm not helping, tell me and I'll just do whatever the majority want.
I think a social day class is different to a championship class. i have no problem bringing and racing scratchies that are " in line with the theme" at social classes. that gives everyone the ability to have a look and see whats going on. so if we run trans am or muscle, what ever, them bring on the falcons, monaro etc
